Wir ziehen von Zirje nach Nordwesten. In der Ferne schauen wir zur Insel Murter und zur Festlandküste in Richtung Norden. Das Wetter ist immer noch mies.
We set off from Zirje to the Northwest. Away to the ´North we look towards the island of Murter and the mainland coast. The weather is still poor.
Wir sind froh über den Schutz, den das Schiff anbietet, während wir mit Motor weiterfahren. Das ist nicht das Wetter, das wir in Kroatien für Anfang September erwartet haben!
We are glad of the protection the ship offers as we motor on. This is not the weather we expected in Croatia in early September!
Auf der Insel Kornat nehmen wir früh nachmittags einen Liegeplatz im Hafen des kleinen Dorfes Striznja. (Die Alge ist hinter den Motorbooten rechts.) Das mobile Marktschiff besucht den Hafen. Wir gehen deshalb frisches Gemüse einkaufen.
On Kornat Island we moor early in the afternoon in the harbour at the small village of Striznja. (The Alge is behind the motor boats on the right.) The mobile market ship visits the harbour, so we go shopping for some fresh supplies.
Die Wolken sind dramatisch, aber es regnet nicht. Ich ziehe mit Kamera los, um die Gegend anzuschauen. Von Striznja gibt es nicht viel; es sind vielleicht acht Gebäude sichtbar. Hier der Blick von der Hafenecke. Rechts ist die Gaststätte, die wir abends besuchen.
The clouds are dramatic but it is not raining, so I set off to explore the area with my camera. There isnt very much to Striznja, maybe about eight buildings visible. Here the view from the corner of the harbour. On the right is the restaurant we visit in the evening.

Aus dem Dorf hinaus führt ein schmaler Weg zwischen Steinmauern den Hang hinauf (links). Der Esel ist nur solange aufmerksam, bis er erkennt, dass nichts Essbares angeboten wird.
There is a small path leading between stone walls out of the village up the hilly slope, (left). The donkey is only attentive until he sees that nothing to eat is being offered.
Den Hang hinauf zu laufen ist nicht einfach. Die Felsen liegen in groben, stufenartigen Streifen, dazwischen befindet sich höchstens eine Handvolle Erde. Auf Kornat nennt sich so etwas Acker! Diese Felsformation erklärt auch die waagrechten Linien, die man auf Kornat vom Meer aus sieht.
Das Wenige, was es an Vegetation gab, wurde im katastrophalen Buschfeuer, das vor nur eine Woche auf Kornat gewütet hat, fast vollständig abgebrannt.
Walking up the slope is not very easy. The rocks lie in rough step-like lines with at most handfuls of earth in between. This is what a field on Kornat looks like! This rock formation also explains the lined appearance that Kornat has when seen from the sea.
What little vegetation there was has almost completetly been burnt down in the catastrophic bush fire that raged not far from here on Kornat only a week ago.
Je höher man kommt, desto dramatischer werden felsige Landschaft und Aussicht.
The higher you get the more dramatic the rocky landscape looks.
Das Terrain ist unglaublich steinig und öde.
The land is unbelievably stony and barren.
Eine kleine Schar Schafe sucht unter den Felsen nach Essbarem jeglicher Art .
A small flock of sheep hunt for anything edible among the rocks.
Einzelne Bäume haben Wurzeln schlagen können. Die Aussicht ist immer noch atemberaubend. Auf den Felsen ist die Fortbewegung sehr mühsam. Bevor es zu spät wird, fange ich an zurückzugehen.
Occasional trees have managed to take root. The view is breathtaking. It is arduous walking on the rocks, and before it gets too late, I set off down again.
Aber es dauert doch ziemlich lange; Eberhard und Stefan haben schon angefangen, Bedenken wegen meiner Sicherheit zu haben. Mit unserem Fischessen wurde schon auf dem offenen Grill begonnen. (Links - nicht alles ist für uns!) Als das Essen ankommt (rechts), ist es der leckerste Fisch, den wir seit langem hatten.
But it takes some time to get back down, so that Eberhard and Stefan were starting to get a bit concerned about my safety. Our fish meal has already been started on the outdoor grill of the restaurant. (Left, not all for us!) When it comes,(right), it is the tastiest fish we have had for a long time.
Eberhard genießt eine seiner sehr seltenen Zigarren nach dem guten Essen.
Eberhard enjoys a very occasional cigar after a good meal.
