Ein typischer Morgen auf dem Campingplatz La Soline, nur insofern getürkt, als dass John anstandshalber sein Hemd anzog (26° in der Sonne). Authentisch ist der Laptop, schließlich sind ihm die Computer nach 35 Jahren sehr ans Herz gewachsen.  What a place to work on a web homepage! The La Soline Camping site is very comfortable, with plenty of space (in winter!) and a good view. In Novenber pleasantly warm in the sunshine.

Nach so viel Kultur mußte es heute etwas Natur sein, hier das idyllische Fischerstädtchen Talamone am unteren Rand des Naturschutzgebiets Maremma, berüchtigt für seine zahlreichen Wildschweine (was uns dazu veranlasste, den Wanderweg nur mit Stock und Stein bewaffnet anzutreten). After so much culture we needed some nature. Here the idyllic fishing village Talamone at the southern edge of the Maremma National Park, home of many wild pigs. That persuaded us on our trek on the coastal path to arm ourselves with stone age weapons (stick and stone!).

Könnte man als Urlaubsdomizil mal ins Auge fassen: noble Ferienhäuser mit eigenem Strandzugang. We fancied this clifftop house with steps down to the shore as a possibility for our next vacation!

Eine Gottesanbeterin mitten auf dem Wanderweg. Johns Kniefall zu photografischen Zwecken quittierte sie mit schleichenden Vorwärtsbewegungen, die Vorderbeine dabei seltsam eingeknickt, als bewege auch sie sich auf Knien rutschend voran. This preying mantis looked less dangerous than a wild boar, so we stopped to photograph it (Beau also on his knees!)

Leuchtend bunte Früchte überall am Wegesrand. Kennt jemand den Namen der Pflanze? Ja! Danke an Grossbergers - es sind die Früchte des Erdbeerbaumes! (Arbutus unedo). Für mehr siehe Link. Who knows what this fruit is? We urgently need an antidote after I told Elli it was delicious (Eden reversed?) :-) Yes, our friends the Grossbergers gave us the answer. It is the fruit of the Strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo) and the fruit is edible, but apparently not very tasty. For more info see: Link.
