A mounted statute of Augustus Caesar, who lived from 63 BC - 14 AD, and was emperor from 27. BC onwards. A symbol on the ring on his finger shows that he was Pontifex Maximus, which he became in 12 BC. He is mentioned in the Christmas story in the Bible as the person who commanded the census to take place, which led to Jesus family having to travel to Bethlehem before his birth.
